Phishguard terms of service

Last updated: 2026-06-15

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Phishguard browser extension (the "Extension"), the Phishguard web dashboard at phishguard.socshield.dz, the Phishguard API at api.phishguard.socshield.dz, and any other product or service offered under the Phishguard brand (collectively, the "Service"). The Service is operated by SocShield Cybersecurity ("SocShield", "we", "us").

By creating an account, configuring the Extension, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

1. What the Service does

Phishguard is a phishing-triage platform for security operations centres. Authorised users in a customer organisation ("Tenant") report suspicious emails via the Extension, the Gmail add-on, or the API. The Service analyses the reports and presents a verdict to the Tenant's SOC analysts through the web dashboard. The Service is provided on an "as available" basis. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or able to detect every threat.

2. Accounts and access

  • You must provide accurate contact information and keep credentials confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account.
  • Sharing accounts across multiple humans is not permitted — each user must have their own account so the Service can audit actions correctly.
  • SocShield staff can disable accounts that violate these Terms, attempt to compromise the Service, or no longer have a valid commercial relationship.

3. Tenant data ownership

You retain ownership of the emails, indicators, notes, settings, and any other content your Tenant submits to the Service ("Tenant Data"). SocShield acts as a processor of Tenant Data on your behalf, only to provide the Service.

  • We will not sell, license, or transfer Tenant Data to third parties.
  • We will not use Tenant Data to train machine-learning models outside your Tenant.
  • We will not access Tenant Data for purposes other than operating the Service, complying with applicable law, or investigating abuse.
  • SocShield staff cannot sign in to a Tenant's own dashboard on its dedicated subdomain — see the platform's host-based access controls and the Privacy Policy for details.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to report emails you are not authorised to access.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to discover the Service's source code beyond what is published openly by SocShield.
  • Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service except under a written security-research agreement with SocShield.
  • Interfere with the Service, including via excessive automated requests beyond your configured quota.
  • Use the Service to violate any applicable law, regulation, or third-party right.

5. API quotas, rate limits, and fair use

The Service enforces per-tenant rate limits and per-API-key quotas. Repeated quota violations or rate-limit triggering may result in temporary suspension. Quotas are configurable per Tenant — contact your account manager to adjust them.

6. Browser extension

The Extension is distributed via the Chrome Web Store (and equivalent stores) under the same Terms. By installing the Extension you additionally agree that:

  • You will only configure it with a Phishguard endpoint and API key your organisation has authorised you to use.
  • You will not redistribute, repackage, or otherwise modify the Extension binary outside of SocShield's published builds.
  • Telemetry behaviour is described in the Privacy Policy; you can disable telemetry at build time when self-hosting.

7. Intellectual property

All rights, title, and interest in the Service — including the Phishguard name, logo, dashboard interface, and all software components — are owned by SocShield or its licensors. These Terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for its intended purpose during the period your Tenant has an active subscription.

8. Confidentiality

Each party agrees to protect the confidential information of the other party with at least the same care it uses for its own confidential information. Tenant Data is treated as the Tenant's confidential information. SocShield's pricing, security architecture details, and unreleased features are treated as SocShield's confidential information.

9. Warranty disclaimer

The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted availability. No security product can detect every threat. Phishguard is a layer in your defence strategy, not a substitute for skilled SOC operators and complementary controls.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SocShield's total cumulative liability under these Terms shall not exceed the amount your organisation paid SocShield for the Service in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim. SocShield is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, loss of data, or business interruption, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

11. Termination

  • You may terminate by closing your Tenant account at any time. SocShield will remove Tenant Data within thirty (30) days of termination, except where retention is required by law.
  • SocShield may terminate or suspend access without notice for material breach of these Terms, non-payment of fees, or activity that threatens the security of the Service or its other Tenants.
  • Sections that by their nature should survive termination (ownership, confidentiality, disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law) will survive.

12. Governing law and dispute resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of Algeria. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved exclusively in the competent courts of Algiers, Algeria, unless a binding consumer-protection law in your jurisdiction provides otherwise.

13. Changes to these Terms

Material changes will be reflected by updating the Last updated date at the top of this page and, where required by law, by notifying Tenant administrators in advance via email. Continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
